CD METALS:

ES-1 Coping is a roof coping (parapet cap) system that is a must for commercial roof standards. The coping meets rigid standards set by the roofing, architectural, and engineering industry primarily for schools, hospitals, government, and industrial buildings.

Installation Instructions for Coping System with Chair and Clip:

  1. SEE ABOVE DRAWING FOR FASTENING PATTERN:

  2. Install full length chair with 1” steel pan head screws on the horizontal face @ 12” o.c. – fasten through chair flange into approved substrate.

  3.  Fasten 1 ¼” pan head wood screws through vertical face 8” o.c. staggered pattern.

  4. Install clip/cleat with 2-#10 x 1” steel pan head screws at 12” o.c. and fasten through chair face @ 6” o.c. in a staggered pattern.

  5. Install splice plate at coping joints @ 6” wide with 2- continuous beads of gunnable caulking up the sides and across the top of splice plate (no fasteners).

  6. Install next coping section atop the splice plate and engage outside edge first then pull to the inside of parapet to engage inside edge of coping on to continuous clip.

  7. Check to see both sides are fully engaged.

  8. Hand crimp coping hem at all chair locations.

Installation instructions for Coping System with Chair 24” Max:

  1. SEE ABOVE DRAWING FOR FASTENING PATTERN:

  2. Install 12” wide 20 ga. galvanized anchor plate spaced 2’-6” o.c. 

  3. Fasten with #8 x 1 1/4” steel pan head screws, 12 per chair 3” o.c. 6 fasteners on each side of splice plate.

  4. Splice plate:  6” wide, ½” gap between successive pieces of coping.

  5. Each side of splice plate sealed with butyl seal strip – 2 rows butyl each side of splice.  

  6. Install each section of coping from the outside edge and engage. Pull coping to the inside edge and engage on to splice plate.

  7. Check to see both sides are fully engaged.

  8. Hand crimp coping with hem at all splice plate locations.
